This Roof System Component is very important for your roof and is designed to properly seal the roof edge. It provides a semi-flat edge that allows the shingle to lay on top flat and precise in a very straight line.. Starter shingle also allows even spacing at the overhang of drip edge. this supports the shingles over time to not curl or sag for years to come. This is also apart of the Total Roof Protection System that gives you a 50-Year Manufacturer Warranty. Never use 3-Tab Shingle, field shingle, or ridge shingle this could effect your warranty.
